Federation of Professional Truckers (FOPT)
The Federation of Professional Truckers (FOPT) is a nonprofit advocacy organization — officially registered as a 501(c)(4) — built to represent, protect, and elevate the voice of professional truck drivers and owner-operators across the United States.
Mission
FOPT exists to fight for fair treatment, transparency, and respect in the trucking industry. It’s about giving drivers a seat at the same policy tables dominated by mega-carriers, brokers, and bureaucrats who’ve never actually backed a rig into a dock.
Structure
President: Mike “Cupcake” C.
Secretary: Matt K.
Treasurer: Tabatha P.
Vice Presidents:
• Melissa M. – Promotions
• Kirsten A. – Social Media
• Laura G. – Government Relations
Core Advocacy Goals – The Big 10
1. Recognition of trucking as a skilled trade.
2. Cap broker fees at 8% with full transparency.
3. Driver choice: paper logs or ELDs.
4. Flexible Hours of Service.
5. DOT regs rewritten in plain English and Spanish.
6. Protect owner-operators from wage theft and predatory contracts.
7. Stricter CDL standards with real training.
8. Cap insurance premiums and stop nuclear verdict abuse.
9. Fair wage floor tied to inflation.
10. Break up mega-carrier monopolies.
Motto
“From our seats to the nation we serve.”
Activities
· Holding board meetings twice a week (Monday & Thursday at 6 PM).
· Launching a podcast and social media presence (target date: October 4, 2025).
· Preparing to represent truckers at MATS 2026 in Louisville.
· Drafting policies, petitions, and public materials to challenge exploitative practices in freight.
Legal Status
Registered in Ohio as a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, with an EIN already issued and bylaws filed. FOPT operates independently — not a union, not a corporate lobby — but a federation owned and run by working drivers.
In Plain Speak
FOPT is truckers saying, “We’ve had enough of the suits speaking for us. We’ll speak for ourselves.”
